About Us
Founded
in 1965, the Berks County Senior Citizens Council promotes
the interests of older Berks Countians 50 years of age and
over. The Council advances and promotes affiliated senior
clubs throughout Berks County.
A strong advocate for senior-related issues at the local,
county, state and national levels, the Council is funded in
part by the Berks County Office of Aging and the United Way.

Our Mission
The mission of the Berks County Senior Citizens Council is
to provide services, programs and referrals that engage,
inform, educate and advocate for older Berks Countians.

Information and Referral
Staff and volunteers are trained to assist seniors and their
families in obtaining information about services available
in Berks County.
Consumer Advocacy
We provide assistance with:
Rent and property tax rebates
PACE (prescription assistance)
LIHEAP (fuel assistance)
Information and referral for consumer complaints and issues
Free notary service
APPRISE
We provide assistance with:
Health insurance counseling for people over age 60
Medicare
Medicare + Choice (HMO's)
Supplemental insurance
Medical assistance
Long term care insurance
VITA
Provides Volunteer Income Tax Assistance with: federal,
state, and local tax filing.
Prime Time Health
Promotes the health of older Pennsylvanians by:

Nutrition Services
The Berks County Senior Citizens Centers provide Meals on
Wheels and congregate meals. Reservations are necessary.
There are FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS for the Home Delivered Meals
Programs.
